Only Read This If You Can't Ride a Unicycle

We’ve all been there: we have stuck to a diet, hit the gym regularly, our old clothes are finally fitting beautifully, we see our results and then comes the inevitable “diet doom and gloom”. We fall off the wagon. “This day is a write off” we tell ourselves, as we stuff our mouths with all the calories we can get our hands on. We question where we went wrong: how did we go from super motivated to a state of self-sabotage? WTF - Why can’t we get back on track?

Despite what we’ve been told, that diet and exercise will get us the fitness results we want, it’s simply not enough for sustainable change. Our destructive patterns, emotional eating and self-sabotage extends far beyond the reach of our physical capacity. Those are all symptoms of an imbalance in our lives, a lack of attention to the entire spectrum of our wellness: body, mind and spirit.

Our fitness journey is like a long winding road, full of twists and turns, ups and downs. Our fitness philosophy and approach is our vehicle taking us down this winding road. If we have physical goals, be it aesthetics or health-inspired, and we are only focusing on the body aspect of our being; it is like we are riding down the pathway on a unicycle.

A unicycle has one point of contact with the path, it’s unstable, wobbly, and very difficult to stay balanced. Good analogy, right? It’s very easy to fall off of a unicycle, especially when we hit corners and hills. Let’s compare this to the body-mind-spirit approach: how much easier would it be to take the twists and turns of life while you’re riding a tricycle? You’ve got three points of contact giving you a super stable vehicle to guide you along your path.

Step one of transitioning from our current “body” focus to a balanced focus is to recognize that you’re on the metaphorical unicycle and to see the benefits of having three wheels on the ground. See how futile it is to ignore 2/3 of your human experience, and ask yourself how you could incorporate more balance into your life’s journey.

The body-mind-spirit approach can work miracles into your fitness journey, but can also help you transform any aspect of your life. It can literally transform your entire life in an instant, because when you find balance and begin investing attention and effort in all three areas, you will cultivate happiness, fulfillment, momentum and self-love in a way you’ve not yet experienced.

I am hosting a free webinar this Thursday, April 21st at 6pm MT {5pm PT / 8pm ET} that will give you clarity on HOW to create balance in your life. I’m going to be sharing:
