My 2nd Favourite F-Word

3/26/2017

Anyone who knows me knows my love of the F Word.

It’s powerful, rebellious and effective. My second favourite F Word is very different and yet still very powerful.

It’s FAITH. <<Now hear me out..>> When I say faith, I don’t mean religion.

Faith to me means believing in something; something greater than yourself. It’s believing that things happen for a reason, even when we can’t understand that shit. Faith gives you a source of peace when life is unreasonable. It gives you hope that everything might work out, even when you have no evidence to believe that otherwise.

And I’ve got some news for you.. Despite your best efforts, you’ve already got it in you.

We couldn’t drive down the road without some level of faith that the car going in the opposite direction is going to stick to his side of that yellow line. You couldn’t be reading this right now without some level of faith that the roof above you wasn’t about to collapse on your head. You’d be in a state of terror all the time without faith. You don’t know that car is going to drive safely, and you don’t know the construction of the building you’re currently in, but you believe you are safe.

Without faith we wouldn’t leave our beds. Because the opposite of faith is fear. There is only enough room in our minds for one or the other. Where there is faith there cannot also be fear. It’s one or the other.

I’ve read that fear is only a part of our imagination. It’s an image in our minds of how bad something could be. And the same could be said for faith. Faith is the image in our minds of how glorious something could be.

So whether it’s all bullshit, or it’s the real deal.. Answer this: which of the two images sounds more lovely to be living on a regular basis?

You’re the only thinker in your mind, and so the choice is entirely yours.

How do you build your faith muscles? With practise.

First admit to yourself that you’ve already got faith. Then practise it.

When something doesn’t go your way, get curious rather than reactive.

What could this mean? What can I learn from this? How does this help me?

By believing that things happen for a reason, you can pull power from the most brutal of situations. By trusting that all is as it should be, you can let go of that death grip you have on life. By looking for the positives in all situations in life, you get to find it.

Recognize that all you need to thrive in this life is already within you. You are a fucking miracle in motion.

Life can be our very own Heaven or Hell, and it’s all up to us and how we choose to perceive this life.

I have faith that after reading this blog, you’ll begin to choose faith, to choose love, to choose again, and to choose better. And I hope you’ll expect miracles too.

Sending love & light,
-L.K.
