If someone was to ask me to pick one thing that changed my life in the most radical way, the answer would be pretty simple: meditation. Meditation has been the building block for my personal transformation in almost every category of my life.
It helps me relax, it’s taught me how to connect with myself, it’s shown me a safe place I can go when I’m hurting, and it’s given me almost every good idea I’ve had in the past three years. Yeah, it’s good shit. So why don’t people do it? Some would say they don’t have the time. Others would say they can’t do it. Most would say they don’t know how. So I’m going to blog about it. Because I honestly think you need this more than anything else in your life. For real. Besides maybe oxygen, water and food. Meditation can come in so many forms, and all are beneficial. Meditation can be sitting in a chair and just taking some deep breaths. Or they can be listening to a guided meditation. That is how I started my meditating journey, I started going on YouTube and listening to different guided meditations. And my life has never been the same since. This is why I’m so thrilled to share some very special news with you, that I'll reveal at the end of this blog! The important thing about meditation is simply that you do it. If you’re feeling too busy you could pop in some ear buds before bed to help you relax. You could focus on your breathing while you’re preparing dinner. You could focus on the feeling of the warm water hitting your back in the shower. There are no rules. Meditating is all about mindfulness. We can eat an apple with mindfulness, putting all other thoughts aside and just being grateful for the simple gift of nutrition. We could make a list of all the things we are grateful for and be mindful of our blessings. We could sit in silence and replay a pleasant memory of a family vacation, or walking down the aisle, or anything that brings us immense joy. That's all meditating. And it's all good. Those are all examples of connecting to ourselves. That practise brings us back to our center. It brings us peace. It restores our balance. And it can transform your life. The only things you really need to know about meditation is how super beneficial it is, and that there is NO wrong way to do it. Do it whatever way feels most comfortable to you to start, and as often as you want. I personally meditate twice a day for 20 minutes. That is my magic time, and yours could be less or more. Meditating for five minutes will benefit your life. Maybe you start small, see the benefits and decide to fit more time in moving forward. I will include a few links below with a few meditations I have enjoyed over the past few years. And now it's time for my big announcement... I'm so freaking excited! I’ve recorded my very own guided meditation, and I think you’re going to love it. It’s a relaxation meditation that includes a light energy healing and self-esteem boosting affirmations. It’s super relaxing and I’ve been listening to it all week (is that weird? Lol) and I just love the way it turned out. And I have two different ways you can enjoy it. I have this link on YouTube, where you can listen and watch for free as often as you'd like, but I also have an option for you to download it and put it on your ipod, so you can take it anywhere you might need to relax and unwind. To download your free copy of my meditation, click here. Please let me know what you think of the meditation. I really hope it is a beautiful introduction to meditation for those of you who have never done it before. And I hope it is equally enjoyable for my more seasoned meditators as well! Sending love, light, and peace, -L.K. Here are the links of some of my favourite meditations: Hot Mess Healing Meditation (my new one!)
